So being pregnant is no joke. Some women love it and others want it over with ASAP. I am definitely somewhere in the middle. Well ok, maybe leaning more towards the negative side. I don’t ever feel like I am in my own skin or very comfortable but I try to be positive and work through it. For those of you who are stronger than I am, more power to ya. Seriously, it ain’t easy. So now that I am officially 6 months along I have been developing a list for me and others who may need it to get them through this draining but budding experience. Most importantly figure out what makes you happy and stick with it. Is it weird that I think if I am grumpy during the whole pregnancy, the baby will turn out grumpy? True or not it’s just something to think about. So here’s some things that help boost my mood when I need a pick me up.
Leachco Snuggle Body Pillow
This body pillow, or boyfriend pillow as some people say, is a game changer. Yes, it us huge and takes up half the bed and looks ridiculous but once you sleep with it, you don’t care. My husband actually bought this Snoogle Body Pillow for me from Amazon and I have used it everyday. Be sure to watch the video to see how many different ways this pillow can be used. Sleeping, sitting, nursing, etc. Check this one out!
Loose Flowy Dresses
I love me a good loosey goosey dress most of the time but seriously it couldn’t be a better time to bust it out. Now this doesn’t mean I am opposed by any means to the cotton stretchy fitted dresses that give you that curvy sexy feel but comfort wise and day to day I prefer the flowy. Added bonus after the baby they are also great to throw on as you adjust back to your regular size eventually. From left to right is a maternity kimono dress from Nordstrom but made by a brand called Fillyboo Maternity and makes the most gorgeous ethereal dresses great for nursing. Next is a short fun dress from Romwe for only $21! This would be so cute with a little baby bump underneath it for sure. Last I found a gorgeous dress on Forever21 with delicate floral embroidery on the front that would also be great for nursing after the baby!
So ya know that wonderful feeling you get when you are starving, which is all the time, but then you eat and it feels like you had two thanksgiving dinners and now can’t move? Ah the glorious nature of a pregnant tummy. Sometimes I will just stand for a half hour instead of trying to even sit after I eat meals because it is so uncomfortable . So I talked to my doctor and we decided to avoid the lovely highs and lows of eating by sticking to more snacking throughout the day and smaller meals. Which of course makes sense. Since then it has made my life a little easier. Healthy snacking of course which changes from day to day. Over at Diary of a Fit Mommy they clarify how many extra calories you should be taking in and suggest healthy snacking and guidelines for meal planning.
Supportive Belly Band
This product is called the Serola Sacroiliac Hip Belt. I know you may be thinking thanks but not thanks because I don’t want to strap a seat belt looking band around my belly and expect it to be comfortable. And I will also say I do not own one yet. This recommendation actually comes from doctor, friends, and highly rated on amazon. It is a little pricier than the others but as I have been told it helps really helps with lower back problems. It balances the motion of your joints throughout your back, hips, and legs without feeling restrictive. Might be worth trying if you are in constant pain or work often.
Exercising is a hot topic. I know. If you didn’t exercise before it may be hard to all of a sudden start now but I encourage you to try. If you have time to squeeze a half hour in 5 days a week you will really benefit from it. Yoga, Cardio, pilates, whatever works for you, do it. You do you. I love a good mix of different exercises because it is easy to get bored but I always feel better afterwards. More motivation to be active during pregnancy is the stamina and strength it gives you during delivery. Cuz you will need it. It will boost your mood and help you sleep better which I can definitely attest to.
